1,500 odd CPI(M) tribal voters joined in BJP

Agartala, Feb 3 (UNI) As many as 1,532 CPI(M) voters from 391 tribal families under Mandaibazar ST reserved constituency of West Tripura on Saturday joined in BJP raising charges of corruption and nepotism against the party leadership.
Mandaibazar is traditionally the tribal base of CPI(M) since 1963 and incumbent MLA Manoranjan Debbarma has been winning the seat since 1998. Mandaibazar was the epicenter of 1980’s communal riot where large number innocent civilians were killed.
The CPI(M) bastion in Mandaibazar became stronger after the riot where CPI(M) coined the term – peace, harmony and development, which is still considered as the tagline of left parties in Tripura even in this election.
