SP MLA Rais Shaikh seeks minority advisor, member in Maharashtra UCC panel

Mumbai, Sept 30 (UNI) Samajwadi Party MLA Rais Shaikh has urged the Maharashtra government to appoint a minority-community advisor and member to the state's Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Committee, saying diverse community perspectives should be represented in the process. Shaikh raised the demand in a letter to Law and Judiciary Department Principal Secretary Swapnil Khati as he referred to the government's appointment of retired IAS officer Shatrughna Singh as an advisor to the UCC Committee, he said a suitably qualified person from a minority community should also be appointed as an advisor.
