Bombay HC denies bail to man accused of killing one-month-old granddaughter

Nagpur, Sep 18 (UNI) The Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court has denied bail to a man accused of killing his one-month-old granddaughter, allegedly because the family did not wish to have another girl child. Rejecting the bail application of Gopinath Janku Pradhan on September 9, Justice M.M. Nerlikar observed that it was distressing that nearly eight decades after Independence, a preference for male children continues to persist in society.
