Nine booked for alleged Rs 1.67 cr Fraud case in Mantralaya Co-op Credit Society

Mumbai, Sep 18 (UNI) Mumbai Police have registered a criminal case against nine office bearers and employees of the state secretariat, Maharashtra Mantralaya Co-operative Credit Society, for allegedly syphoning off Rs 1.66 crore by preparing and processing fictitious bills over a period of nearly five years. The case, registered as Crime No. 361/2026 on September 16, follows a complaint lodged by Umesh Gopinath Tupe, 55. Police have invoked Sections 406, 409, 420, 465 and 120(B) of the Indian Penal Code, 1860.
