Give farmers Rs 50,000 per acre or admit financial crisis: Vijayendra

Bengaluru, Sept 29 (UNI) BJP Karnataka president Vijayendra Yediyurappa on Tuesday demanded that the Congress government provide at least Rs 50,000 per acre to drought-hit farmers and challenged it to openly admit that the state's financial position was in distress if it was unable to extend such relief. Addressing a press conference here, Vijayendra said farmers were facing severe hardship amid the drought and alleged that the government had failed to provide adequate assistance, offering only Rs 2,500 per acre.
