Rivetting action in Madurai's Avuniyapuram Jallikattu

Chennai, Jan 15 (UNI) It was a day of gripping action as Jallikattu, the bull taming sport, conitnued to be held at Avuniapuram in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu on Thursday. A total of 1,000 bulls took part in the Pongal festival's first Jallikattu and 550 bull tamers have registered for the event. The event began at 8.00 A.M after the vets conducted the routine medical tests on bulls, besides bulltamers to ascertain whether any of them were under the influence of alcohol.
