Congress gears up for nationwide protests, demands Gyanesh Kumar's removal

New Delhi, Sep 27 (UNI) Congress general secretary K C Venugopal on Sunday announced that the party had mobilised its district-level leadership for nationwide protests scheduled for Monday against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, reiterating its demand for his immediate removal and reversal of decisions taken under his watch. Venugopal said a virtual meeting of more than 1,000 District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents had been convened to brief them on the protests, which form part of the party's campaign against alleged irregularities in the electoral process and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
