El Nino impact, low reservoir levels pose water stress in Telangana: Uttam

Hyderabad, Sep 18 (UNI) Telangana Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday said the impact of El Nino, coupled with low reservoir and tank levels, had created significant stress for farmers, irrigation and drinking water security in the state. Participating in a short discussion on the "Effects of El Nino - Remedial Measures" in the Assembly, Uttam Kumar said the total storage in the Krishna and Godavari basins was only 241 TMC against a live capacity of 585 TMC as on September 17, compared with 497 TMC during the same period last year.
