CPI(M) seeks immediate scrapping of demographic panel, links exercise to Census, SIR and Delimitation

New Delhi, Sep 30 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Wednesday demanded the immediate scrapping of the High Level Committee on Demographic Changes (HLCDC), saying questions reportedly being asked by the panel in different states had reinforced its apprehensions about the purpose and wider implications of the exercise. In a statement issued by its Polit Bureau, the CPI(M) said media reports on the questionnaire being used by the HLCDC had "unravelled" what it described as the "suspicious intent" behind the constitution of the committee.
