Advocate seeks criminal contempt action against CEC Gyanesh Kumar over alleged SC judgment violations

New Delhi, Sep 24 (UNI) A Supreme Court advocate has sought the Attorney General for India's consent to initiate criminal contempt proceedings against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alleging wilful disobedience of Supreme Court judgments governing the functioning of the Election Commission of India (ECI). Advocate Brajesh Singh, in a letter addressed to Attorney General R Venkataramani on September 24, has invoked Section 15(1)(b) read with Section 2(c) of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971, and Rule 3 of the Rules to Regulate Proceedings for Contempt of the Supreme Court, 1975.
