BJD seeks clarity on proposed charges for UPI payments above Rs 2,000

Bhubaneswar, Sep 19 (UNI) BJD Rajya Sabha member Santrupt Misra on Saturday questioned the Centre's proposed charges on UPI transactions above Rs 2,000, warning that the move could burden small traders and consumers. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Misra said UPI had transformed digital payments in the country and helped widen financial access. He asked what data and assessment had prompted the government to set Rs 2,000 as the threshold, particularly when small traders operate on thin margins.
