Patna HC orders compensation over demolition of house in East Champaran

Patna, Sep 23 (UNI) The Patna High Court has directed the East Champaran administration to pay interim compensation to three petitioners whose residential house and boundary walls were demolished by a mob in 2017 and observed that depriving a person of shelter without following due process of law violates fundamental rights. Justice Raj Kumar, while hearing the matter, directed the Commissioner, East Champaran, to pay Rs 1.5 lakh to petitioner Vishnu Shankar Singh and Rs 2 lakh each to Vinod Kumar Singh and Arbind Kumar Singh as interim compensation.
