Meghalaya records highest reduction in maternal mortality across India: CM

Tura, Sep 21 (UNI) Meghalaya has recorded the highest reduction in maternal mortality in the country, with a 55 per cent decline, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said on Monday. Inaugurating the extension of the Tura District Maternity & Child Hospital, adding a 50-bed wing and taking the hospital's capacity to 150 beds, Sangma said maternal deaths in Meghalaya have more than halved over the past five years, dropping from 244 to 107.
