Chatra Sthapana held ahead of Tirumala Rathotsavam

Tirumala, Sept 21 (UNI) The traditional Chatra Sthapana, or Golden Umbrella Ceremony, was held at the Main Kalyana Katta here on Monday evening as part of the Tirumala Srivari Salakatla Brahmotsavams, ahead of the Rathotsavam scheduled for September 22. The age-old ceremony is performed on the eve of the Rathotsavam under the supervision of Kalyana Katta staff. According to historical records, the tradition has been continued for centuries by the descendants of Pantulugari in accordance with a Dharmashasanam issued by Chandragiri ruler Srinivasa Mahadeva Rayalu during the reign of Sri Krishnadevaraya.
