QCI celebrates inaugural convocation of Gunvatta Gurukul

New Delhi, Feb 8 (UNI) The Quality Council of India (QCI) marked a milestone with the first convocation ceremony for Gunvatta Gurukul, an initiative aimed at nurturing India's youth here on Thursday.

Attended by Shri Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, the event emphasised the pivotal role initiatives like Gunvatta Gurukul play in shaping India's future.

The programme, which graduated 87 young professionals, focuses on empowering youth with industry-relevant skills and practical exposure.

While addressing the students, Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon'ble Union Minister for Commerce & Industry, Consume Affairs, Food & Public, Distribution, and Textiles, said, “Skilled youth are the cornerstone of a thriving economy. By equipping young minds with industry-relevant skills and practical exposure, QCI, through its programmes like Gunvatta Gurukul, is playing a vital role in addressing India’s skill gap and empowering our youth to become active contributors to national progress."

He further added that the convocation of Gunvatta Gurukul took him back to his college days and reminded him of the movie 3 Idiots.

Shri Jaxay Shah, Chairman, QCI, congratulated the graduated students and highlighted the importance of Gunvatta Gurukul. He said, "Gunvatta Gurukul is a crucial step that young graduates and professionals should embark on, as it gives them a platform to learn while earning. Most importantly, we go beyond rote learning, fostering a holistic development that combines essential skills, leadership guidance, and real-world exposure. In this regard, we organised a tour of the New Parliament Building and Bharat Mandapam for our students in order to connect them with India’s quality infrastructure. This empowers our graduates to thrive in their chosen fields while ensuring quality and contributing meaningfully to India's growth trajectory."

Elaborating on the programme's unique approach, Shri Subroto Ghosh, Head PPID, QCI, said, "Gunvatta Gurukul's curriculum goes beyond traditional textbook knowledge. It equips students with critical skills through experiential learning using case studies and field visits, augmenting their understanding of the government structure while also instilling strong ethical values and an understanding of quality principles. This holistic approach ensures our graduates are well-rounded and prepared for the evolving demands of the industry."

The success of the first batch sets the stage for the second batch, starting on February 9, 2024. Gunvatta Gurukul, with its innovative approach, is poised to significantly impact India's future by empowering its youth.
