Shimla, Jan 14(UNI) Former Minister Mansa Ram who also served as minister in Dr Y S Parmar' cabinet passed away at IGMC on Saturday, Senior Medical Superintendent Dr Rahul Rao confirmed.
He was 82years old. Former minister Mansa Ram, a veteran leader of Karsog assembly constituency was suffering with Kidney failure and was admitted at IGMC for the almost the last three weeks. Mansa Ram began his public life as member of Assembly in the year 1967 by winning the independent election from Karsog assembly constituency. After this, he joined the Congress in 1972 and contested on a party ticket and became a minister for the first time in the cabinet of Himachal producer Dr. YS Parmar.
After this, in 1977, Mansa Ram had to face defeat in the election, but in 1982, Mansa Ram again entered the election field as an independent candidate and reached the assembly after winning. He also served as Çabinet minister in Ramlal's government. In 1998, he joined the Himachal Vikas Congress party and contested on the party's ticket and won the election and supported the BJP and became a cabinet minister in Prem Kumar Dhumal's government. After this, in the year 2012, he contested the elections on Congress ticket and won and worked as CPS in Virbhadra government. In 55 years of public life he saw many ups and downs.
