1.87 lakh people detained, 10000 FIRs filed to control Manipur crisis: Governor

Imphal, Feb 28 (UNI) Manipur government has put 1,87,143 persons under preventive detention and released them after due legal formalities following the crisis that started in May 2023 claiming over 200 lives in the state, Governor Dr. Anusuiya Uikey said on Wednesday.
A total of about 10,000 FlRs have been registered till date, with 29 cases handed over to CBI and one to NIA for independent and transparent investigation, said the Governor, addressing the year's first session of the state Assembly here.
The governor said the state security forces, 198 companies of Central Armed Police Force, and 140 columns of Army have been deployed for assist in area domination, sanitisation, and maintenance of law and order in the state.
