Climate change resulted in deadly flooding in Nepal's Rasuwa district, notes study

Kathmandu, Sep 17 (UNI) Climate change helped create the conditions that contributed to the devastating ice-rock avalanche and subsequent flooding in Nepal's Rasuwa district by gradually weakening the high-mountain environment, according to an international scientific study. The study by World Weather Attribution (WWA), a research group that examines the role of climate change in extreme events, found that processes including glacier thinning, thawing permafrost and rising water pressure in cracks in rocks have weakened parts of the Himalayan mountain environment.
