Nashik Municipal Corporation orders closure of slaughterhouses on Gandhi Jayanti

Nashik, Sep 30 (UNI) The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has ordered the closure of all slaughterhouses within its jurisdiction on October 2, 2026, on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. The civic body has warned of legal action against anyone found slaughtering animals on the day. The decision comes amid demands from various Hindu organisations and community members across Maharashtra for the closure of slaughterhouses and meat shops during religious festivals and significant occasions.
