Soybean crop burnt in 50 villages of Tuljapur over demand for drought relief

Dharashiv, Sep 20 (UNI) The Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana on Sunday staged a protest by burning damaged soybean crops in around 50 villages of Tuljapur taluka in Dharashiv district, alleging that a prolonged dry spell had caused extensive losses to soybean growers. The protest was organised to draw the government's attention to the difficulties faced by farmers and to protest what the organisation described as a delay in announcing relief measures. Farmers and activists demanded that the government immediately declare a drought-like situation in the taluka and provide financial assistance to affected growers.
