Unnao (UP), April 28 (UNI) Six passengers were killed and 20 others injured when a truck tore apart one side of a bus in Safipur area of Unnao district in Uttar Pradesh district on Sunday, police sources said here.
Police sources said that the incident took place near Jamalpur village in Hardoi-Unnao highway when the truck coming from the opposite direction collided with the truck and tore apart its one side.
"Six passengers were killed on the spot, and 20 others were injured in the incident," they said.
Police sources said that initially the injured were taken to the community health center, from where they were referred to Kanpur and Unnao for treatment.
Circle Officer (CO) Safipur Rishi Kant Shukla said that the deaths of six passengers in the accident have been confirmed so far. He said that while 11 injured have been referred to Kanpur, nine have been shifted to the district hospital in Unnao.
He said that efforts were being made to identify the deceased. The truck driver has been arrested, he said.
