Top Indian flautist Pt PravinGodkhindi performs at BITS Pilani Goa Campus

Panaji, Oct 2 (UNI) BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus, enjoyed a classical treat of Sursangam 2018 on September 22, 2018.
Srutilaya, a classical music club of BITS Pilani Goa Campus organised Sursangam, a tribute concert to late Professor Suresh Ramaswamy. It experienced a huge turnout of classical music enthusiasts. The event was started with the lighting of the lamp by the Faculty coordinator Radhika Vatsan, Mayank Bedekar and other dignitaries. The opening concert was a mesmerizing Bharatanatyam performance by Anand Satheendran, an alumnus of BITS Goa. The dance was followed by melodious Carnatic vocals by Balakrishna Raghavan also an alumnus of BITS Goa. This left everyone spellbound. After this came the most awaited performance of the Flute maestro Pt Pravin Godkhindi.
Pt Pravin Godkhindi commenced the concert with exquisite raag PuriyaKalyan, played in 'gayakiang'. It was embellished with Kiranagharanas peculiar meends and two note taans. Later, he presented Raag Hansadhwani in the 'tantrakaari' or instrumental style with Mayank Bedekar, who matched him beat for note with his superb artistry on tabla. This composition was followed by a raag-malika of Raags Miyan Malhar, Jog, Kalavati, etc and a Pahadidhun which was the cherry on the cake. After the performance, the artistes were presented with a shawl and a memento by Professor RadhikaVathsan. A vote of thanks marked the end of a melodious evening spent in company of classical music.
