Cochin Shipyard begins construction of three 70-tonne electric tugs for Danish firm

Kochi, Oct 9 (UNI) Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has commenced construction of three battery-electric tugboats, each with a bollard pull capacity of 70 tonnes, for Danish maritime company Svitzer A/S, with the steel-cutting ceremony held on October 7 marking the start of work. The ceremony was led by Jens Ove Kymler Rasmussen, New Building Site Manager of Svitzer, in the presence of CSL Director (Operations) Harikrishnan S, Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited (UCSL) CEO Harikumar A, Executive Director (Shipbuilding) Shiraz V P, senior officials of the shipyard and representatives of the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).
