Adani's Colombo terminal doubles capacity to 3.2 mn TEUs

Sri Lanka/Thiruvananthapurm, Oct 1 (UNI) Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone's (APSEZ) Colombo West International Terminal (CWIT) has doubled its capacity to 3.2 million TEUs following the completion of a USD 750 million Phase II expansion, the company said. Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dr Harini Amarasuriya inaugurated the expanded terminal, which is Sri Lanka's first fully automated deep-water container terminal. CWIT said it had become the fastest terminal to handle one million TEUs in its inaugural year in 2024 and has now crossed the two-million-TEU milestone within the first 18 months of operations.
