Karnataka to extend food-safety drive to street vendors: Health Minister Khader

Bengaluru, Sept 23 (UNI) Karnataka Health Minister UT Khader on Wednesday said the state government would extend its food-safety drive to street-food vendors, with emphasis on hygiene, safe food handling and awareness. Addressing an interactive session on food safety organised by the Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC) here, Khader said food-safety inspections had been intensified across the state and the government would now focus on educating street vendors on hygienic food preparation, cleanliness, safe handling of ingredients and responsible use of cooking oil.
