Renwed violence between two communities: one shot dead, houses burnt in Manipur

Imphal, Sep 23 (UNI) In renewed violence in Manipur, caught in ethnic strife, aprivate electricity lineman was shot dead at Tamenglong and around 24 houses were set ablaze in two villages in Kangpokpi district on Wednesday. So far, about 40 people, mostly innocent villagers, women and children, have died in the clashes. Police said a 36-year-old private electricity lineman, Paojangam Chongloi, was allegedly shot dead while repairing a 33-KV power line at Lasan village under Tamei police station in Tamenglong district.
