Fishermen must not pay the price of development, says Kerala CM as Rs 510-crore projects launched at Vizhinjam

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 9 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan on Friday launched and inaugurated development projects worth Rs510 crore at Vizhinjam, asserting that fishermen should not be forced to bear the burden of development and that their livelihoods must be protected through adequate financial support. The projects include the laying of the foundation stone for a new fishing harbour, the inauguration of modernisation works at the existing harbour, the construction of a breakwater and financial assistance for coastal residents.
