DRI seizes foreign-origin gold worth Rs 8.98 cr in Visakhapatnam; two arrested

Hyderabad, Oct 11 (UNI) The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) have seized 5.832 kg of foreign-origin gold, valued at approximately Rs 8.98 crore, from a car travelling from Kolkata to Hyderabad and arrested two persons in connection with the smuggling. Acting on specific intelligence, DRI officials maintained heightened vigilance along the National Highway and intercepted the car at Visakhapatnam during the night of October 8-9 following a prolonged chase. A thorough search of the vehicle, following sustained interrogation of the two occupants, led to the discovery of a specially fabricated cavity beneath the leg space of the front co-passenger seat.…
