Punjab will initiate action on adopting & notifying Direct Selling Guidelines: Sinha

Chandigarh, Sep 18 (UNI) Punjab would initiate action on adopting and notifying the Direct Selling Guidlines, issued by the Central Government, as regulatory mechanism for the Direct Selling Industry(DSI), state Food and Civil Supplies and Consumers Affairs department Principal Secretary K A P Sinha said here on Wednesday.
Addressing an informative session on Direct Selling, Mr Sinha said, ''There is a huge potential for employment, especially for women in the direct selling domain." He expressed his delight over the direct selling industry demanding legislation and regulatory guidelines and assured to initiate necessary action in this regard. He also opined that there should be a consumer centric attitude in both policy framework and industry operations as the focus is on the user is at the receiving end.
The half day session was organised by Confederation of Indian Industry(CII) in association with the Federation of Indian Direct Selling Industries (FIDSI) at CII Northern Region Headquarters here where issues such as awareness about DSI, regulatory framework for the industry, avenues in the industry, skill development, modus operandi of ponzi schemes were discussed in length and breadth.
