Bhubaneswar, Apr20 (UNI) The toll in the boat tragedy in Mahanadi river Odisha’s Jharsuguda district, rose to seven on Saturday with the recovery of five more bodies.
Official sources said the boat carrying about 50 passengers from the Kharsani area in Chhattisgarh was on a pleasure trip to Patharsoni under Amavona block when the mishap took place in the middle of the Mahanadi river on Friday.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik while expressing his profound grief over the boat tragedy and death of people directed the Chief Secretary and Special Relief Commissioner to oversee the rescue and search operation.
