Nitin Nabin kickstarts BJP campaign for Panchayat polls in Rajasthan

Jaipur, Sep 25 (UNI) BJP President Nitin Nabin on Friday kickstarted the party's campaign for the upcoming Panchayat polls in Rajasthan here, even as the electoral process for over 300 urban local bodies is set to conclude on Saturday.

The saffron party chief Nabin blew the bugle for the next battle-of-the ballot at a well-attended congregation of the newly-elected members of the urban civic bodies at Dadiya village on the outskirts of Jaipur, giving a call to party cadres to maintain the winning streak that the party has achieved in the urban civic bodies.

Addressing the sammelan that coincided with the 110th birth anniversary of Pt Deendayal Upadhyay, the propounder of Antyodaya, Nabin said, "You have attained outstanding results, unprecedented statistics, amazingly high number of seats in the just-concluded civic polls. Continue to maintain this success that symbolises the people's stamp of approval on the good governance, welfare programmes, pro-poor initiatives being worked on by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bhajan Lal Sharma-led BJP government here."

While reminding party cadres of the cause of service in the BJP's political approach, Nabin also took a swipe at LoP Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for the latter's comment alleging that the BJP is apprehensive about the possibility of anti-incumbency and a defeat at the hustings. Nabin said, "Remember, we do not join politics or form governments for the sake of power. Our politics and our governments are meant to serve the people; we don't install governments to effect change of guard or transfer of power; in this process our cause always remains focused on change in the common man's life, to transform the lives of the poor in line with the principles of Antyodaya propounded by Pt Deendayal Upadhyay which are being implemented by Prime Minister Modi-Ji and Chief Minister Sharma."

"This also constitutes my answer to LoP Gandhi who wondered why we in BJP sit assured of our electoral success without fearing anti-incumbency. Gandhi should know that the sentiment and quest for service to the people instills confidence in us", the BJP president quipped. Chief Minister Sharma, BJP state president Madan Rathore, Local Self Government Minister Jabbar Singh Kharra also spoke. Nabin also flagged-off 90 "Chunav Prachar Raths" for proceeding to their assigned rural areas for convassing for the party.

Chief Minister Sharma and party chief Nabin also inaugurated or laid the foundation stones through online remote control, for projects or development works worth Rs 2,636 crore and also disbursed via direct bank transfer (DBT) funds-grants of Rs 400 crore to beneficiaries of various welfare initiatives.

The BJP leader reached here post midnight last night. He participated in the cleanliness drive alongwith CM Sharma, organised at the Albert Museum Hall here this morning. Later he interacted with MPs, MLAs and other senior party leaders, including former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, at the CM residence here and discussed issues and strategy pertaining to the just-concluded civic polls and the upcoming Panchayat polls. In the afternoon, Nabin alongwith CM Sharma attended a "Yuva Samvad".
