Haryana petrol dealers threaten to stop UPI payments over Rs 5 MDR, seek exemption

Panchkula, Sep 18 (UNI) Petrol pump dealers in Haryana have threatened to stop accepting digital payments and switch to cash if fuel retailers are not exempted from the new Rs 5 Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) on UPI merchant transactions above Rs 2,000, the state dealers' association said. The All Haryana Petroleum Dealers Welfare Association (AHPDA) has opposed the new payment framework and, on September 17, sent a formal representation to the union Finance Ministry seeking an exemption for petrol pumps.
