UGC to discontinue general M.PT and M.OT degrees from 2026-27; universities must award specialisation-based degrees.

Panchkula, Sep 18 (UNI) The University Grants Commission (UGC) announced that, starting in the 2026-27 academic year, the Master of Physiotherapy (M.PT) and Master of Occupational Therapy (M.OT) degrees will only be awarded in specialisations. UGC Secretary Prof. Shyama Rath communicated this decision in a letter dated September 16, 2026, following guidance from the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP).
