Voting ends in Maldives parliamentary election

Colombo, Apr 21 (UNI) Voting in the Maldives' parliamentary election ended at 5:30 p.m. local time (1230 GMT) on Sunday. Poll workers started counting votes 30 minutes after the ballot boxes were closed.
According to information released by the Elections Commission, over 207,000 people cast their ballots by 5:00 p.m., making for a voter turnout of more than 72 percent.
The results of the polls will be announced within seven days after the elections.
