Unseasonal rains hit Marathwada region, claim 5 lives & damage crops on several hectares of land

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Apr 13 (UNI) Unseasonal rains with hailstorms have hit many districts of the Marathwada region since last two days, claiming five human lives and hundreds of hectares of sorghum, maize, millet, and orchard lands have been extensively damaged.

Along with Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Parbhani, Jalna, Nanded, Hingoli, and Beed, many parts of the district have been hit by heavy rains and hailstorms.
So far, four people have died, and hundreds of hectares of sorghum, maize, millet, and orchards have been extensively damaged.
According to preliminary estimates, 2,716 hectares of crops have been damaged due to unseasonal rains in the region. Fruit crops on 777 hectares have been damaged.

Beed district has suffered the most damage due to unseasonal rains.
In Marathwada, 84 small and large animals have been killed, and 356 houses have collapsed. 201 villages in Marathwada have been affected by the hailstorm, and 4301 farmers have been affected by the hailstorm.
In Beed district, crop loss was 1021 hectors, followed by Nanded district crop loss of 749 hectares,Dharashiv 307 hectares, Hingoli district 297 hectares, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar 164 hectares, Jalna 134 hectares, Parbhani 50 hectares, and Latur more than 50.
In Beed district, a 35-year-old woman identified as Meena Shinde was killed, and a 15-year-old boy was severely burnt by lightning at Manyarwadi in Gevrai taluka of the district.
A report from Parbhani district stated that two people were killed by lightning in the unseasonal rain Friday evening. They include Baburao Shelke, a 55-year-old farmer from Elegaon in Gangakhed taluka, and Haribai Surnar of Bhauncha Tanda in Sonpeth taluka, who also died due to lightning.
In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district, a farmer was killed by lightning in Takli Ambad of Paithan taluka, while a youth was killed by lightning in Undangaon area of ​​Sillod taluka.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has predicted the possibility of rain with thunder in some places in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Marathwada.
