Mumbai, Apr 10 (UNI) For the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, 2,641 new polling stations have been added in the state, and this time there will be 98,114 polling stations in the state, official said on Wednesday.
According to the official press statement issued by the Election Commission (EC) on Wednesday, there were a total of 64,508 polling stations for the 2004 Lok Sabha elections. In 2009, a total of 83,986 polling stations were established.
A total of 91,329 polling stations were established in 2014. 95,473 polling stations were established in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
At present, 98,114 polling stations will be established, and as the registration of voters is going on, there is a possibility of an increase in these polling stations.
Pune has the maximum number of polling booths, while Sindhudurg has the least.
At this time, a maximum 8,382 polling centers are in the Pune constituency. After this, there will be 7,380 polling stations in Mumbai suburbs, 6,592 in Thane, 4,800 in Nashik, and 4,510 in Nagpur.
Sindhudurg has the lowest number of polling booths at 918 and Gadchiroli at 950, the statement stated.
Seven districts have more than 3,000 polling stations. There are 3,734 polling stations in Ahmednagar, 3,617 in Solapur, 3,582 in Jalgaon, 3,368 in Kolhapur, 3,085 in Aurangabad, 3,047 in Nanded, and 3,025 in Satara.
There are more than 2,000 polling stations in 10 districts, which include Raigad 2,719, Amravati 2,672, Yavatmal 2,532, Mumbai City 2,517, Sangli 2,448, Beed 2,355, Buldhana 2,266, Palghar 2,263, Latur 2,102, and Chandrapur 2,044 There will be polling stations.
While districts with less than 2,000 polling stations are as follows: Nandurbar 1,412, Dhuke 1,704, Akola 1,719, Washim 1,076, Wardha 1,308, Bhandara 1,156, Gondia 1,288, Hingoli 1,017, Parbhani 1,587, Jalna 1,719, Osmanabad 1,503, and Ratnagiri 1,717 polling stations.
According to the guidelines issued by the Central Election Commission, every polling station must have a minimum basic facilities. It includes minimum facilities such as ramps for senior citizens, drinking water, toilets, electricity supply, a lighting scheme, suitable width doorways for wheelchair users, and furniture. Special care will be taken at polling stations located in remote areas, according to the statement.
