Romario's last-over onslaught shepherds MI to 234/5 against DC

Romario's last-over onslaught shepherds MI to 234/5 against DC

Mumbai, Apr 7 (UNI) In an IPL encounter held at Wanhede Stadium here on Sunday, Romario Shepherd's aggressive onslaught in the final over, particularly against Anrich Nortje, significantly contributed to Mumbai Indians' highest total of 234/5 against Delhi Capitals.
Shepherd smashed four sixes and two fours in his quickfire 39 not out off just 10 balls.
Despite a disappointing outing for Suryakumar Yadav, who was dismissed for a two-ball duck, the Mumbai batting lineup demonstrated remarkable unity and resilience.
Rohit Sharma's explosive start, along with contributions from Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, and Tim David, set the tone for Mumbai's innings.
Rohit's aggressive innings of 49 runs off 27 balls, featuring six fours and three sixes, provided a strong foundation for Mumbai's imposing total. Kishan's brisk 42 off 23 balls, including four fours and two sixes, added to the momentum, while Pandya's 39 off 30 balls further bolstered Mumbai's score.
Despite early setbacks, Mumbai capitalised on the batting-friendly conditions at the Wankhede, capitalising on the wayward deliveries and width offered by the Delhi Capitals' bowlers. Ishant Sharma and Nortje, in particular, struggled to contain Mumbai's batsmen, conceding runs at an alarming rate.
While Shepherd's late fireworks added crucial runs to Mumbai's total, David's aggressive unbeaten knock of 45 runs off 21 balls, comprising two fours and four sixes, ensured that Mumbai posted a commanding total on the scoreboard.
