Germany tightens border controls for UEFA Euro 2024

Berlin, Mar 26 (UNI) Germany is set to boost border controls during the UEFA European Championship 2024, in the wake of the terrorist attack that killed over 130 people in Russia last weekend.
German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser announced on Tuesday that to protect UEFA Euro 2024 from any potential terror threats, checks on individuals will be carried out at all nine external borders during the football event this summer.
"We are pooling the forces of the security authorities even more and preparing for all possible threats," Faeser told the Rheinische Post newspaper. "This is necessary to provide the best possible protection for this major international event," she added.
