Autism is four times more common in boys than in girls : Psychiatrist consultant

Hyderabad, April 1 (UNI) Consultant Psychiatrist at KIMS Hospitals ( Kondapur) Dr Charan Teja Koganti here on Monday said Autism is four times more common in boys than in girls.
In a release on the occasion ' World Autism Awareness Day' on Tuesday, Dr Charan said Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder that could stem from problems in parts of your brain that interpret sensory input and process language.
It is characterized by problems with ---communication; social interaction and restricted, repetitive, and stereotyped interests or patterns of behaviour, he said these children have trouble understanding what other people think and feel. This makes it hard for them to express themselves, either with words or through gestures, facial expressions, and touch.
