Vizag Port handles more than 80 Million Tonnes in FY 2023-24

Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Mar 28 (UNI): The Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) created a new history in Cargo Handling, four days earlier in the financial year of 2023-24 by handling 80.05 Million tonnes.
This is the highest-ever cargo handling by the VPA since its inception surpassing the previous highest 73.75 MT in the financial year 2022-23.
The factors that contributed to this record volume include – POL & Crude volumes up by 27 percent, iron ore by 12 percent; fertilizer volume by 6 percent; Handling more baby cape vessels up to 43 mts beam; more than 35 percent growth in several vessels handled, VPA Secretary T. Venu Gopal said in a release here.
