UP: 2 killed, 2 injured in explosion in firecracker shop

Badaun (UP), Apr 1 (UNI) Two members of a family were killed and two others were injured when a house collapsed due to an explosion in a firecracker shop in the Islamnagar area of Badaun district here in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, a senior police officer said here.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Alok Priyadarshi said that Asgar runs the firecracker shop on the ground floor of his two-story house. "On Monday, when Asgar was gone, his shop caught fire due to unidentified reasons, resulting in an explosion in which the building collapsed. Asgar's wife and three children were buried under the debris," he said.
Police sources said that the local residents launched a rescue operation after informing the police. "The police pulled out Asgar's wife and two children after removing the debris with the help of heavy machines. One child is still trapped under the debris, and efforts are being made to rescue her," they said.
