Punjab: 2 arrested in fake stamps racket

Phagwara (Punjab), April 17 (UNI) The police in Phagwara busted a racket run by criminals lodged in a Punjab jail who used fake stamp papers to get bails for those lodged behind bars. Two men were arrested and three fake stamps were recovered from them.
SP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti told here on Wednesday those arrested were identified as Avjinder Singh alias Raja of Arjunwal village and Jatinder Singh alias Sonu Sood of village Panchhat (Phagwara).
Bhatti along with DSP Phagwara Jaspreet Singh addressed the media and said Avjinder confessed to his crime and told the police he took Rs 12,000 from Jatinder's mother. The latter is in Kapurthala Jail and Avjinder promised his bail with the help of fake documents.
