A campaign will be launched to register women voters left out on the voter list: DC

Dharamshala, Apr 6 (UNI) Under the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, a special campaign will be run until May 4, this year, to register the names of women voters and physically challenged voters left out on the voter list.
District Election Officer DC Hemraj Bairwa told UNI that to fill the gap in the voter gender ratio, effective steps will be taken to register the names of women voters left out on the voter list with the help of booth-level officers, Anganwadi workers, Mahila Mandals, and members of self-help groups.
Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa said that the number of male voters in Kangra district is six lakh 54 thousand 626 while the number of female voters is six lakh 43 thousand 862, whereas according to the census in Kangra district, the number of women is higher than that of men. He said that the names of some women voters are not registered in the voters list before marriage, while even after marriage, there is a delay in getting the names registered in the voters list by the in-laws, due to which the names of eligible women voters are left out of being registered in the voters list.
