Man sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for rape

Rae Bareli (UP), March 15 (UNI) A man was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment along with a penalty of Rs 13,000 by a local court here on Friday in a 10-year-old kidnapping and rape case, a prosecution counsel said here.
Government Counsel (GC) Alok Kumar Tripathi said in 2014 Sandeep (33) kidnapped a girl and assaulted her sexually. "The family members lodged a complaint and the police filed a chargesheet in the court after investigation," he said.
He said that based on evidence available on record the court of Additional Sessions Judge Alok Kumar Singh held Sandeep guilty. "The court sentenced the accused to 10 years imprisonment for rape along with a penalty of Rs 10,000 and 5 years imprisonment along with Rs 3,000 fine for kidnapping. Both the sentences will run concurrently," he said.
