Mahoba (UP), Mar 28 (UNI) Two drivers were charred to death when two vehicles caught fire after colliding with each other in the Khanna area of the district here in Uttar Pradesh, a police officer said on Thursday.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Satyam said the incident took place near Khanna toll plaza on the Kanpur-Sagar highway when the two trucks coming from opposite directions collided with each other around 2 am.
"The impact was such that both trucks caught fire and their drivers were trapped inside the chamber," he said.
He said fire tenders were summoned from Mahoba, and a rescue operation was launched.
"By the time the fire was controlled, the drivers of both trucks were charred to death. The deceased have been identified as Vipin Maurya (35), a resident of Unnao district, and Raj Kumar Pal, a resident of Kanpur," he said.
The ASP said the owners of the trucks have been called to the police station.
"The matter is being investigated by the police," he said.
