SC issues contempt notice to DDA Vice-Chairman for unauthorised tree felling

New Delhi, April 24 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Wednesday issued a show cause notice to the vice-chairman of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for the felling of more than 1000 trees for the construction of an approach road between Chattarpur Road and SAARC University near Maidan Garhi.
A bench comprising Justice B R Gavai and Justice Sandeep Mehta issued the show cause notice to the Vice-Chairman of DDA and asked him to reply why an action for committing contempt of court be not taken against him.
The court said the felling of trees for constructing the road was carried out by DDA despite there being an order from the court not to do so.
