Over Rs 5.87 cr cash seized in Arunachal

Itanagar, April 8 (UNI) The law enforcement agencies in poll-bound Arunachal Pradesh have confiscated over Rs 5.87 crore in cash during pre- and post-MCC (Model Code of Conduct) implementation, an election official said on Monday.
“So far, Rs 5,87,79,811 in cash had been seized by the enforcement agencies while they were engaged in vehicle checking at various checkpoints in various parts of the state,” Toko Babu, officer on special duty (OSD) to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Arunachal Pradesh, said.
Apart from cash, 1.59 lakh litres of liquor, including IMFL worth Rs 4.37 crore, 33,672.23 kg of drugs and narcotics amounting to Rs 76.78 lakh, precious metals worth Rs 2.63 crore, Rs 74.96 lakh of freebies, and other items worth Rs 28.88 lakh were seized since the declaration of election schedule on March 16, he said, adding that the total monetary value of the seized items, including cash, stood at Rs 14.68 crore.
