SC takes suo motu cognizance of recurring sexual offences in Delhi-NCR, stresses accountability

New Delhi, Sep 28 (UNI)The Supreme Court on Monday took suo motu cognizance of a spate of recent rape cases in Delhi-NCR, including the gangrape of a woman in a park and the alleged sexual assault of a minor aboard a moving sleeper bus in Delhi. A bench comprising Justices JB Pardiwala and K Vinod Chandran expressed distress over the recurring incidents and questioned whether law-enforcement mechanisms had made meaningful progress since the 2012 Nirbhaya case.
