CDSCO flags kidney disease risk from indiscriminate painkiller, antibiotic use

New Delhi, Sep 22 (UNI) The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has warned against the indiscriminate use of painkillers, particularly non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and antibiotics, citing the associated risk of chronic kidney disease (CKD), health ministry officials said on Tuesday. The drug regulator has asked healthcare professionals, pharmacies, retailers, distributors and hospitals to ensure that these medicines are used only when clinically indicated and under medical supervision.
