Centre cuts sugar dealers' stock limit to 1,000 quintals, holding period to 15 days from Oct 15

New Delhi, Oct 7 (UNI) The Centre has tightened sugar stock-holding restrictions for dealers, halving the maximum permissible stock across most of the country to 1,000 quintals from 2,000 quintals and reducing the holding period to 15 days from 30 days, with the revised limits taking effect from October 15, according to a Gazette notification. The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution issued the order on October 6, further amending the sugar stock restrictions notified on July 28.
